Carbon Capture (Eco Garden)

Description
This course is aimed at 11 - 16 year olds and can be completed by yourself. The recommended time to complete is 3 hours but can take longer depending on the detail you put into your project. You can complete it in your own time and can be completed in multiple sessions as your progress will be saved. Make sure to take regular breaks from your screen.

This course is designed to help you create a garden that supports the environment and contributes positively to the fight against climate change. Together, we’ll explore the basics of climate change, its impacts, and the importance of natural carbon stores.

You’ll learn about carbon sequestration—the process by which plants, soil, and other natural features capture and store carbon dioxide. With this understanding, you’ll plan a garden that includes as many carbon-storing elements as possible. We’ll also look at other features that can make your garden environmentally friendly, such as supporting biodiversity, conserving water, and providing habitat for pollinators.

To bring your ideas to life, you’ll have the option of using recycled or craft materials for hands-on model building, or digital tools to create a detailed online design. This flexibility allows you to explore your creativity in a way that suits your preferences and resources.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a clear plan for an eco garden tailored to your space and a deeper understanding of how small, thoughtful changes can make a big environmental difference.
