Digital Catapult North East Pathways to Employment

Description
This course is part of the Digital Skills Pathway in the North East.

To achieve a Bronze Award, you will watch webinars, complete two courses- one game in Scratch and one in TinkerCAD and complete a research project.

It is designed for 11–16 year olds and can be completed independently. The recommended time is 10-12 hours, but it may take longer depending on how detailed your project is. You can work at your own pace, complete it in multiple sessions, and your progress will be saved. Remember to take regular screen breaks.

In the Scratch course, you will choose between two game briefs and create your own game through the world of coding. You will learn how different blocks of code work together to create games that are simple, interactive and well loved.

In the TinkerCAD course, you will design a 3D moon base for astronauts. You will learn about the best place to build on the moon and consider important factors such as temperature, environment, materials, room design and structure.

You will need an email address (your own or a parent/carer’s) to log into TinkerCAD.

By the end, you will understand how to use a CAD program, develop your coding skills, and deepen your knowledge of your careers in STEM.
